Zero Emissions Byron Limited is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with DGR status. It is managed by a Board of Directors (see Profiles), whose core purpose is setting strategy, governance and financial responsibility. Key responsibilities include raising and managing funds, risk management, accessing stakeholders and partners and developing and approving the strategic plan.
The Board may comprise seven members with a mix of skills, including:
- Energy Efficiency
- Renewable Energy
Subcommittees may be formed at any time to deal with specific items, such as: Finance and Audit, Emissions Monitoring and Reporting, Fundraising, Trees, Large scale solar, Communications and marketing.
Memberships are a formal requirement for ZEB’s tax deductible status. ZEB members are a mix of organisations and individuals. Members may attend Annual General Meetings, and are entitled to vote and elect directors.
The Advisory Panel is composed of individuals with expertise in their respective fields, including technical, financial, policy and strategy, and community engagement. The advisory panel can be engaged at key points for advice or information, can advocate for ZEB and expand networks.
The initial or founding project partners are Byron Shire Council, Centre for Social Change and Beyond Zero Emissions, who are represented at Board level, in the Advisory Panel or in sector/ representative projects.
