With the US taking extraordinarily irrational and dangerous action by exiting the Paris Climate Agreement, what does it mean for us in the Byron Shire? We must pull together as a community, and amp up our work on climate mitigation solutions. We need investment in large scale projects, such as major revegetation of our region, right through to addressing emissions on an individual level. We have abundant resources and skills in our region, and therefore a responsibility to undertake this work.

Renew Fest
Held in early June, the second annual Renew Fest was a wonderful example of what can be achieved by our community. It was an inspiring event with an array of workshops, talks, and stalls, including on renewable energy, biodiversity, ethical economics, humanity renewal, and non violent direct action.
Zero Emissions Byron was there to talk with people all things emissions- thanks for dropping by to chat,
We’d like to congratulate all involved who put in such a tremendous effort to make Renew Fest happen – particularly the COREM crew.
Sustainability Drinks- Thursday 8th 6pm

We’d like to invite you to this month’s Sustainability Drinks. Sustainability Drinks Byron, hosted by Zero Emissions Byron, is a monthly event gathering together people interested and involved in projects related to reducing emissions.

It’s a lovely evening, which starts with a half hour soap box. Soap box speakers can let people know about any project or initiative they are working on which relates to emissions reduction, in energy, buidlings, waste, transport and land use. If you would like to reserve one of these 2-3 minute ‘Soap Box’ spots please email sashamainsbridge@gmail.com.

Entry is free and both food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Farming the Sun Bulk Buy 

We are lucky to have another  solar and battery bulk buy on offer in the Northern Rivers.  The Bulk Buy, offered by Farming the Sun, is open to all residents, farms and businesses in the Northern Rivers. Bulk buys can help people access renewable energy by reducing costs. Farming the Sun say that “The purpose of the community solar power bulk-buy is to significantly increase the understanding, affordability and take-up of solar energy throughout the region.”
