EV Expo's : Nothing beats first hand experience
We held our first EV Expo in 2019, and we tried every year since to hold it again. As luck would have it, now, there are heaps more EVs available than there were back then. On Sunday September 11 we finally held another EV Expo at the Bangalow Showgrounds.
On display on the Jarrett Oval, we had a range of the latest available EVs , including the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Jaguar I-Pace, the Polestar 2, Porsche Taycan, Volvo XC40 Pure Recharge, and several Tesla Ys like the one from Rainbow Power Company, or Coast Byron.
There were also more than 25 E-Bikes and E-Motor Bikes on display, from Beyond Byron, Fonzarelli (sold locally through Summerland Electric Moto) and Vallkree, attracting a keen crowd.
We Surveyed the Northern Rivers about EV's
During the Covid lockdowns, in September and October 2021, we surveyed residents and visitors of the Northern Rivers region of NSW to ascertain their knowledge of, interest in and concerns about Electric Vehicles. The key survey findings are summarised below.
- 85% of respondents would like to own an electric vehicle
- 64% want one because of climate change benefits
- 25% liked the prospect of using their own solar power to charge their EV
- The top barrier to buying an EV is price, with range concerns (17%) following. Of the 25% of respondents who already own an EV, 27% had bought secondhand – so already a market
EV Webinar Series 2020
ZEB held eight one-hour webinars between August 2020 and May 2021 about the radical transition from Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) to Electric Vehicles (EVs). In the webinars, key industry leaders and innovative companies offer fresh insights on all electric vehicles from e-bikes and retrofits through to EV bulk-buy groups.
The webinars are presented by local journalist, Mick O'Regan. Read Mick's summation of the series here.
